Looking for the perfect Labor Day weekend trip but don’t have a car? No problem! Here are some nearby getaways by train, bus, and bike.
Hot Tip
🐝 Puchase a Hive Pass: For $42 a month (about 75% less than a regular monthly UTA pass), Salt Lake City residents can get the Hive Pass. This discounted transit pass is good for buses, TRAX, FrontRunner, the S-Line streetcar, and UTA On Demand. It also comes with a one-year GreenBike membership.
Moab, Utah
⏰ About six hours 20 minutes from Downtown SLC
In September, the weather in Moab eases into a more comfortable 80 to 90 degrees. A great adventure hub for hiking, biking, and exploring national and state parks or simply strolling the shops at Main Street.
Lagoon Amusement Park (Farmington, Utah)
⏰ About 45 minutes from Salt Lake Central Station
🚆 Frontrunner to Farmington Station, then, take the Lagoon Shuttle
If you’re a scaredy cat, this weekend is the perfect time to visit Utah’s only amusement park, since Frightmares start on Friday, Sept. 5. Did you know you can bring your own cooler and picnic inside the park?
Wendover, Nevada
⏰ About two hours from Downtown SLC
Basically half the Vegas in half the time. Gambling, buffets, and a neon Wendover Will. On your way there, look for the Tree of Utah along the highway.
Ogden, Utah
⏰ About one hour from Salt Lake Central Station
So many fun things to do in Ogden. May I suggest renting a GREENbike to make the most of your day. It’s only a 15 minute bike ride to Ogden Botanical Gardens. From there you can ride the Ogden River Parkway Trail up to the Dinosaur Park, Timbinermine Steakhouse, and Rainbow Gardens gift shop.
🛤️ Have a little more time to kill? Ride the train to Denver.
