Summer in Salt Lake City is pure magic and goes by way too fast. So I’ve gathered together a bucket list to make the most of this season.
Get in Water as Much as Possible
In this heat? It’s a must.
- Beginner: Venture to your local rec center pool. Take shallow water aerobics at the Sports Complex or adult swim lessons at Holladay Lions Rec Center.
- Intermediate: Paddleboard at Tibble Fork Reservoir or Pineview Reservoir.
- Advanced: Float the Provo River (if you dare).
Take a Staycation
You could staycation in Midway to try The Pizza Yard and attend Swiss Days in August. Or take advantage of the Utah resident discount at Stein Eriksen Lodge and go to Park Silly Sunday Market. Peep our neighborhood guides for even more inspo.
Participate in SLC Library’s Summer Reading Challenge
Long summer days are meant for reading. Stop by your nearest city library location for a free reading tracker. A fun activity for the whole family!
Attend an Outdoor Movie or Concert
It wouldn’t be summer in Salt Lake without an outdoor movie or concert. Here are just a few options:
- Deer Valley Music Festival
- SLC Twilight or Ogden Twilight
- Utah Film Center’s Summer Outdoor Movies
- Murray’s Movies in the Park/Pool
See the Salt Lake Bees in Daybreak
As someone who identifies as “not a sports gal,” I had a great time at the Salt Lake Bees game. Daybreak is a trek to get to, but the Ballpark at America First Square is really nice and has that new stadium smell (fresh cut grass and hot dogs).
Order Manapua
If you’re like me, your social media feed is basically all food. That’s how I stumbled across Da Manapua Man based in Herriman. Manapua are a Hawaiian take on Chinese bao buns, and these ones look oh-so-pillowy. Send them a DM to order!
Visit a New Farmers Market
The Downtown Farmers Market has my heart, but there’s also so many other great ones to explore. In fact, there’s one in almost every city in Salt Lake County.
