Forget Temple Square (save that for next year) — the best way to experience Salt Lake is through the eyes of someone who lives here. Yep, that’s me! Here’s how I’d spend a day around town.
Brews and Baked Goods
Start your morning at Publik Coffee, an SLC staple. My go-to is the browned-butter caramel latte. Or catch Good Time Coffee, a monthly pop-up. Their next gathering is on Oct. 25 at 1809 West Temple. Grab a pastry, sandwich, or tartine at Leavity Bread.
Peruse Secondhand Goods
Treasure hunt through Capital City Antique Mall, a 10,000-square-foot warehouse packed with vintage finds, or explore the oddities at the newly opened Shalimar Antiquities, just in time for Halloween. Then bring some Y2K fashion home from Garbage Fairy, which opened earlier this month.
Even more vintage finds: Check out the Utah vintage shopping guide created by the owner of Kissing Whiskey Vintage. This handy directory features over 175 vintage shops.
Check Out a New Record Store
Flip through vinyl at Mood Ring Records, an independent record shop tucked inside a historic 1930s home. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
A Little Park Escape
Take in some fresh air at the International Peace Gardens, which features 28 distinct gardens representing countries from around the world.
Dinner and Relaxation
Unwind at Glow SLC, a communal bathhouse where you can cycle between saunas, cold plunge, and warm pool. Then enjoy Northern Indian cuisine for dine-in or takeout at Star of India, which just received recognition by the Michelin Guide.
