The Black Desert Resort is one of the most intriguing new hotels in Southwest Utah. Located in the cozy, but scenic Ivins enclave, the resort is already making waves for its 19-hole Tom Weiskopf–designed golf course, but it offers more than beauty and competition among the greens.

🍷 Luxe Accomodations

The property has nearly 450 rooms and suites, decked out with modern, contemporary furnishings and gorgeous views of black lava fields and red rock cliffs from covered outdoor patios. Some accommodations even include kitchenettes and temperature-controlled wine storage.

🍽️ Where to Eat

The Black Desert Resort is home to Latitude, a quiet spot for breakfast and lunch, and Basalt, which adds local character to fine dining with a menu that includes cocktails, seafoods, and steaks sourced from Utah ranches. Both have captivating floor-to-ceiling windows to soak in the scenery. 20th Hole is equipped with golf simulators and serves casual sports bar favorites alongside an impressive craft beer selection.

🏜️ The Great Outdoors

The resort is just outside Snow Canyon State Park, a photogenic collection of red sandstone hills and petrified sand dunes. Take your time hiking the formations or enjoy the beauty of nature from your car while cruising a seven-mile scenic drive that offers a “greatest hits” of what the park is all about.

Ivins is also an hour’s drive to the front gates of Zion National Park, featuring 230 square miles of colorful cliffs, rivers, and slot canyons. Take advantage of a free shuttle bus that ferries visitors among nine stops within the park’s boundaries.

🎭 An Awesome Arts Scene

Ivins is just outside St. George, a city that champions local art with galleries and Art Around the Corner sculptures on downtown streets. Browse exhibits in a variety of formats at the St. George Art Museum and see members of the St. George Musical Theater perform inside a venue that was formerly a wine cellar with an all-new state-of-the-art theater coming in 2026.

You’re also near the Tuacahn Amphitheatre, which hosts live stage productions with the red rocks of Snow Canyon as the backdrop, and Kayenta Art Village, an isolated, but charming community with galleries, dining, and live performances.

👀 Future Plans

The Black Desert Resort is just getting started. Plans are already in the works to add outdoor shopping, a waterpark, concert venue, and more exciting attractions. But don’t wait to see what this property is all about. Book a reservation and see how the resort is already reshaping a captivating corner of Southwest Utah.
